i'm new to this whole blogging thing, but thought it looked like fun. we'll see how it works out!

well.. here I am in
Seattle.

let me just say, i am lOVING it.
every bit of it. my school, the people, the city.
i am in amazement at where God has brought me.
real life has begun.
"real" is the best way to describe my experience here thus far.
God's presence here at SPU is incredible. tangible.
it gives me goosebumps to think about the way He touches people's lives.

anyway..
my weeks go something like this:
classes 4 days a week
small group on tuesday nights
tea time with my floormates every day
group (an amazing worship service) on wednesday nights
thursdays are my free days - relaxation and homework catch up
exploring the beautiful city of seattle on weekends

classes are... hard. for the most part. but interesting and worthwhile. for the most part :)
this week i've had second thoughts about where God is really calling me.
not sure i've just told myself my whole life that i'd go into the medical field, or if that's actually something that i should go into. it seems that if i went that direction, i'd have to put a whole other part of me on the back burner. there's a part of me that wants to get into music. creative writing. philosophy. psychology. and those things don't really fit into an exercise science/pre-physical therapy major. i'm interested in checking out music therapy. but for now, i'm going to continue taking classes that will not be exclusive toward either of those. cover all my bases.

in one my classes we're reading The Hungering Dark by Frederick Buechner. if you've never heard of him, check him out. good stuff. but he talks of vocation: a man's calling. to quote him, "we should go with our lives where we most need to go and where we are most needed." so this is what i'm trying to figure out right now. i know i'll figure it out. and i know that no matter where i end up going, if it is meant to be, God will provide for me. if i am doing the work He has called me to do, i know i will be taken care of.

"i know, oh Lord, that a man's life is not his own." - jeremiah 10:23
